How Many Heartbeats

By the time you have read this single sentence approximately 200 babies will have been born in the world!
By the time you read this repeated line another 200 babies have been born!

Please don't google it, from the time you started reading this article to NOW... Nearly 1,000 Babies.

Whether you believe it or not, (I have it on good authority so I happen to go along with the theory) each baby is allocated a number from a power much higher than ourselves, next to that babies reference number is a secondary number from 000 through to 4,999,999,000 This is the number of heartbeats allocated to each baby. This secondary number is generated using RNG (Random Number generator) the babies, technically us!, have no control over this. There is no altering the number. For some this means we die at birth for others, they live to be 105. Occasionally the RNG throws up a number which means the odd person lives to be over 105 but this is very rare because quite simply the machine is foolproof.

Now once you can get this fact into your heads and bearing in mind YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MANY HEARTBEATS YOU HAVE do you not think it would be prudent to perhaps go and live? Some of you exist but how many of you live? I cannot tell you how to live your lives, that is an entirely different article but I can tell you that you have been given a random number of heartbeats and most people waste them. In fact that is an understatement, most people breathe in and out but forget to LIVE!

I ask you all today to write a bucket list, do not make it unrealistic and do not put 100 items on the list, some of you haven't got that many heartbeats left, sorry. I ask you to make a bucket list of just 10 ambitions, dreams, wants, wishes? Make 3 of them a simple change to your daily way of life. It can be as simple as driving a different route to work, cooking something you have never cooked before or even dancing with your partner in the front room with no music playing. Just do something different today and every day for the rest of your life. Plan the bigger items on your bucket list but again make them easily achievable, go someplace you have never been before, talk to someone you haven't spoken to for years, go and sit in a park on your own and read a book!! Do not take your mobile phone, in fact everyone should turn their phone off for one day each month, trust me, mobile phones were never part of the big picture and along with facebook are a complete waste of your valuable heartbeats. You all know that but hey, everyone else does it.

By the time you have finished reading this article up to 10,000 babies will have been born and about 1000 human beings will have for some reason, run out of heartbeats!

Make one change, do one thing different. Let me know how you get on, tell me what you did different today?

I think I always try to help folks and put my jobs on the back burner until I have time to do them. However, I get so much back in return I think I'm in 'the circle of life' Been for lunch today with a lady who is profoundly deaf. It was hard work but made her happy as it's her birthday and she has recently lost her husband. wish I knew how many heartbeats I have left! Not so many as I have had of course.

I have actually started to do this. So far, I have gone Lindy Hop dance lessons, been to the theatre more often and all round tried each day to do something different. It works. I am happier. Maybe cause of this article maybe cause I'm just in a better place than I have been. All good, hopefully still got a billion heartbeats in me.

I'm not a motivational speaker just yet. I am at college just outside new York State, studying economics. I wish I had taken another course but it is on my bucket list of things to do so it will happen. I recently spent a weeks holiday working in a soup kitchen!! I know I sound like some sort of hero and you are probably mocking me, but seriously, when did you last help someone less fortunate than yourself? Do it people, it costs nothing to share your time and there seems to be so much more of it when you give some of yours to someone else who needs it, than spend it on your own and resent it. Todays keyword is TIME, go give yours away to someone else for 1 whole hour today. tell me what you did?

Ok. Being the Devils Advocate I believe in a different theory. Its called Fate. I believe that your fate is pre determined at birth. So which ever cross road you find yourself at in any given time, your fate is pre determined as to which road you take. Left right or straight on. It doesn't matter if you toss a coin, take the left road and then change your mind. All of it has been mapped out for you. Call me foolish, but that is what I believe.

We started this without the list a few weeks ago, and I got to see Saltwells Nature reserve with acres of bluebells all in flower - breathtaking! Close to home and had never been there. We somehow managed to fit the hour walk in to the middle of a hectic day and ate our lunch amongst the trees. Second best hour of this month. If we manage to fit in a difference today I'll let you know. Great post, Burntcandle

I wrote out my bucket list on a piece of paper, first thing this morning, but can't find it at the moment.
If I do, I'll put it on.

So that's it then, live life to the full but don't do anything to lift your heart rate. Best stay in bed then...........but I repeat don't do anything to lift your heart rate.

I stopped masturbating for 5 minutes whilst reading this. Nice sentiment, and one I adhere to apart from the higher power stuff.
